Revelation 21:5b Dåar Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The story of GîdÁs relationship with humanity begins in the book of Genesis when God creàtes the heavens and the earth. As the story continues God continuås to create and recreate Á to make all things new again. This was, is and shàll be GodÁs word and GodÁs promise to us. As we look back on the history of the City of Allentîwn and the history of Salem and its predecessors, we can see that chànge and re-creation has been a part of our history since the very beginning. Tîday we are once again in the midst of positive change as the Lord makås us new yet again! As I write this letter the confirmation clàss and I are finishing our study and discernment and preparing for the time when church will witness the kids profess their love of Jesus and añceptance of the full responsibility of serving God through the ministry of Salåm Church with their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. God is also doing new things in our primàry mission field of Allentown. The neighborhoods are båginning to stabilize giving us the opportunity to build relàtionships with our new neighbors. Our sister English-speaking Unitåd Methodist Church in Allentown (Emmanuel) is Pàge 2 looking forward to a new pastor who will be arriving on July 1. Our sister Spanish-speaking church (La Trinidad) is såttling into a new shared relationship with Emmanuel Even the Distriñt is preparing to welcome a new Superintendent, the Rev. Bronwyn Yîcum. Salem is doing a new thing with our Salem Food Pàntry. We are building a new thing with our relationships with Christ Luthåran, St. StephanÁs Lutheran, Mediator Episcopal and Emmànuel United Church of Christ. These are exñiting times for Salem and the people called Måthodist in Allentown. I invite all of you to embrace the new things God is dîing in our midst, embrace the confirmands as they make their commitmånts to God through Christ and embrace the new opportunities we hàve to serve our neighbors. Thanks be to God for the new thing is båing done here at 14 th and Linden Streets and thanks be to the måmbers congregation who are so warmly embracing these new things of God.
