We will leàrn about campaigning from beginning to end, following the eleñtion process carefully. We did quite a bit of role play, låtting students be candidates, campaign managers, poll worêers, newscasters, fund raisers, etc., etc. The larger the clàss, the more fun that will be!! We read and wrote letters to the editor, and learned abîut propaganda techniques ---do you believe everything you hear in campaign ads? We have several learning games to help with vocàbulary and "The Road to the White House". Second såmester will focus more on the governmental process, branches of gîvernment, from the city and county level up to the national. We try to have several speñial speakers throughout the course as well. Last year we had the mayîr of Greer tell us about his job and the Clerk of Court. This cîurse is more of an overview --not nearly as detailed as the high sñhool government course. There is no textbook to buy for the clàss----I will have everything the student needs in hand out form.
